Commitment to Technology
In today's fast paced society where technology rules everything in our everyday lives and children are handed smart devices at a very early age, teachers that don't stay up to date on the newest technology will soon be obsolete. Technology makes learning fun, engaging, and makes the classroom run more efficiently. Technology is essential in today's schools, and with smart boards, tutorials, videos, simulations, wikis, tablets, web quest etc... it helps each unique child learn and express their knowledge better than ever before. I am committed to using technology to help my students learn in various ways that best suits my classroom.
My first artifact is a five day technology unit that I created during my time at WVSU, and it contains over 15 different types of technology. I created this unit in Education 300, and the topic of the unit is germs. Students learn what germs are, where they live, and how they spread. This unit includes technology that both the students and I used, including a WebQuest, power point, and a online quizlet game all created by me.

My second artifact is a lesson plan that I created and taught about tobacco to a sixth grade class, at Madison Middle School. In this lesson students learned about the types of chemicals found in tobacco, short term and long term side effects, and the dangers of second hand smoke. I created this lesson plan during my time in Ed. 319, and it includes a KWL chart, quizlet, and a internet scavenger hunt on kidshealth.org.
